Well, if you’d been hoping for a sedentary start to this weeks Wisewarrior Training schedule then Richard San did not accommodate! Punches, punches and more punches with the students attempting to knock the stuffing out of the pads. Also a great lesson for stance work, you try hitting a pad when its moved at the last second! But combat is a physical thing after all, and everyone looked suitably hot after the session! But then the calm followed the storm (at least physically anyway) with the second hour devoted to the sword students. This weeks concept revolved around mindset and Richard San had the class working with different mental images to get the most from their sword work.

Pad Work!

Pad Work!

On Wednesday the instructing team took to the dojo floor once again with the usual tried and tested system of private tuition and small group training. The group session this week was based on Tim San’s knife defence lesson, which got the whole class involved. There was quite an atmosphere as knife attackers went to town on testing the system in their opponents, even the beginners were making a pretty good job of it, the drill will have modifications…but our greatest chance of survival with this vital lesson is to continually practice; to go through the drills on a regular basis until the unnatural becomes natural and instinctive.

Announcements for this week: Christmas is coming (yes really!) and so looms this years Xmas Do! This year we’ve found a nice place in Cheltenham that offers a Buffet. Its £10 a head so if you’d like to come along and we will need a £5 deposit. Ideally we’d like to book a slot on either a Monday or Wednesday night after normal training so please let us know asap if you can make it. We are looking for a date in the first two weeks of December. So if we can have your deposits in by the end of October say, then we can let you know the date in time to arrange your busy diaries over this festive period!

See you in the dojo!
