The Wisewarrior Challenges began in earnest this week but Tim San was flabbergasted to discover that nobody new about them despite countless posts on the Facebook page!! Better luck next time Sen!

It is hoped that these challenges will help students with their weekly lessons and general practice, making things that little bit less stressful nearer grading times.
Speaking of which, congratulations once again to Dohighs Uday and Matthew for their excellent grading performances at the weekend.

The “practice, practice, practice” theme of last weeks blog has spilled over into the Wisewarrior Challenges and also into the instructors mindset with a big emphasis on technique this past week.

You know there really is no substitute for good old fashioned practice and unfortunately not doing it at the beginning doesn’t mean you can cram later.
All the instructing team know the merits of continuous practice, whether it be karate, aikido or even sword. Think of it this way… The best finish on a car is achieved with many many layers of top quality paint, and each has to be given time to dry before the next is applied… In the same way, giving a student an advanced lesson relies upon their mastery of a previous, more basic lesson to begin with.

So, if you want the instructing team to give you a great advanced lesson, make sure you can do the simpler stuff first!!! Or to put it another way…
Follow and take part in the weekly Wisewarrior Challenges!!!
